Jazz

Fusion

Fusion is a particular style of jazz that is influenced by other genres such as rock and roll and blues. You can see this as electric guitars, amplifiers, and keyboards that were popular in rock and roll started to be used by jazz musicians in the late 1960's.

Return to Forever

Return to Forever is an American jazz fusion group, founded and led by pianist Chick Corea in 1971. They are often cited as one of the core groups of the jazz-fusion movement of the 1970s. Through its existence, the band has had many members, with the only consistent bandmate of Corea's being bassist Stanley Clarke.

This is actually pretty goooood.

Duration: 4/4

Pitch: Quite a large range between high pitch, low pitch.

Dynamics: Starts off in the intro then gradually crescendos into the verse then switches back to p in the chorus before it gradually crescendos again.

Tone Colour: Seemingly etheral but demonic sounding and very rock sounding.

Texture: There are 4 layers of instruments, synthesizer, drums, electric guitar and bass guitar.

Structure: There is the same repeated ostinato every now and then which happens after a dynamic change from f to p.
